MEET DOCTOR MCCARTY
Dr. Patrick McCarty is a board certified dental anesthesiologist through the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a graduate of Boston College and the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Mount Sinai Hospital and School of Medicine in New York City.

Following graduation from residency, Dr. McCarty practiced anesthesia in the greater San Francisco area. In 2007, Dr. McCarty relocated home to New England, where he now provides mobile office based anesthesia services in many dental offices throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In collaboration with Dr. Marcy, Dr. McCarty devotes his sole focus to the anesthetic care and wellbeing of an individual patient. The collaboration between two professional licensed providers who are focused on their individual roles is known to improve safety, efficacy for patients undergoing procedures utilizing sedation and/or general anesthesia.
Dr. McCarty’s patient population includes both children and adults – especially those who are medically compromised and dental phobic. Dr. McCarty is the longest tenured dental office based anesthesia provider in the state of Massachusetts.
Dr. McCarty is also a Staff Anesthesiologist at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He is also a Visiting Instructor within the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Department of Periodontology, at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Recently, Dr. McCarty has also helped to institute an I.V. Sedation training program for the Postdoctoral Periodontology residents, at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Since 2005, the Journal of the Massachusetts Dental Society has annually selected 10 member dentists per year who have been in the profession for 10 years or less and have made a significant contribution to the profession, their community, or organized dentistry. Dr. McCarty was named a recipient of this honor in 2009.
Dr. McCarty’s hobbies include playing basketball, cheering on the Celtics and Patriots and traveling with his family.
